    Yours, Ours and MySpace.com

MySpace.com started as a place for singles to connect and has become a top marketing tool for the music business. MySpace is a free online service offering individuals, bands or corporate entities the ability to design a distinct webpage on the topic of their choice - themselves.

MySpace’s traffic exceeded 35 million unique visitors by the end of 2005 and there are 54 million registered users. With a demographic of teens and 'twentysomethings,' it is an amazing tool for promoting new artists and keeping fans involved with established artists. Even though teens account for 22% of the registered users of MySpace, there is still plenty of room to reach an older demographic.

If MySpace is used effectively, it becomes a vehicle for labels and producers to discover new talent. Brad Turcotte, President of Compadre Records is a user and believer in MySpace. “Our label uses MySpace to promote each of our artists. It is a free way to reach a huge audience. You really cannot beat the price per impression.”

Tamera H. Bennett, Esq. What We Do

FARM TO MARKET MUSIC (“FTM”) is a full service music publishing administration company. We also offer intellectual property (trademark, copyright, right of publicity) clearance services to record labels, film/tv production houses, and corporate clients.

FTM grants publishers the freedom to spend their time on creative efforts and not administrative concerns. Our company files and tracks copyright applications; files the necessary performance rights information as well as maintain a liaison with each society; we negotiate and issue all licenses; and we collect, calculate and distribute royalty income. In addition, upon the publisher’s request, we work to secure alternative sources of income for the catalog.

Tamera H. Bennett, President of FTM, has been actively involved in the music business for two decades. In addition to her duties with FTM, Tamera continues to operate her copyright, trademark and entertainment law practice.
